LPG system parts for gas-powered forklifts
A gas-powered forklift is a much more environmentally friendly option than a diesel forklift. It can be used both indoors and outdoors. And because it runs on gas, it’s also great for remote operations. To keep it powered up, simply bring along extra gas bottles.
The gas-powered engine of an LPG forklift is quite different from a thermal engine.

Maintenance tips for your LPG system parts for gas-powered forklifts
LPG systems are prone to wear and tear, so they need regular checks and maintenance. Keep in mind that gas is flammable and potentially dangerous. Always work safely and carefully. Only use quality parts and be sure to stay on top of any potential leaks.
Use these tips to keep LPG systems safe and performing at their best:
- Always use the proper type of gas and gas tank, as indicated by the manufacturer.
TIP: Each gas tank has a lifespan of 10 years, beginning on the date of manufacture. After this time, they need to be replaced. Using a gas tank that’s over 10 years old is extremely dangerous. - Check LPG systems periodically to avoid unnecessary risk and ensure the machine will continue to offer peak performance.
- Check for leaks:
- First of all, if you suspect a leak, turn the forklift off immediately. If the forklift is indoors, make sure to ventilate the room; open a window or garage door to let fresh air in. Turn on fans to clear any remaining gas.
- A chemical is often added to the gas mixture to make it possible for people to smell a leak. The scent is often described as being similar to rotten eggs. If you smell something strange, there is a high chance of a propane leak.
- Check the seals of fittings and valves. If you hear a hissing noise, there’s likely to be a leak.
- To be sure of a leak, apply soapy water over the suspected area using a brush or towel. If bubbles appear, it’s a leak.
- Check for leaks:
- Check the gas filter for dirt and debris and replace it if necessary.
TIP: When investigating leaks, make sure to use protective gloves. If propane contacts the skin directly, it can cause frostbite.
