Offset Gear Reduction (OSGR) starters use a set of gears to reduce the speed and increase the torque of the motor for efficient engine ignition. Positioned offset from the armature, it provides a compact design, combining the benefits of direct drive and gear reduction systems. Common in many modern heavy-duty applications.
