Jacks and stands are essential parts for equipment maintenance. Tire and brake wear is a serious issue and jacks and stands are there to help you replace those parts when necessary. In honor of National Safety Month quickly approaching in June, follow these important rules when using jacks and stands in order to stay safe:
1. Never raise a forklift higher than 1/4 its tread width.
2. Always chock the wheels that remain on the ground.
3. Always use a stand to support a load - never the jack.
4. Ensure the truck is unloaded.
5. Park on a smooth level floor.
6. Make sure the parking brake is adjusted and fully applied.
