TVH in the Americas (TVH), headquarters in Olathe, KS hosted a giving tree during the first three weeks in December for children and adults living at Lakemary, a local non-profit whose mission is to help children and adults with mental and physical disabilities.  Several Christmas trees throughout the facility were decorated with ornaments containing the names of the residents, their ages and their Christmas wish lists. Getting into the spirit of the holiday, TVH employees purchased over 100 gifts for the 35 men, women and children who were on the giving tree. In addition, they also donated money and a variety of items on Lakemary’s general wish list including puzzles, games, and books.

Lakemary has served as a resource for families across the country always staying true to their mission: ‘providing choices and opportunities for children and adults with special needs to maximize the freedom and control they can bring to their lives’. Lakemary maintains five campus residences. Home-like settings and caring staff provide a safe, supportive environment for progress and healing.

TVH has a long history with Lakemary and its residents. TVH’s Production Department routinely contracts with Lakemary to assist with the various kitting jobs that are needed at the Olathe facility. Over the years millions of kits have been completed by 140 plus adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their job coaches.

In 2012, TVH received the Interhab Outstanding Business Award for its partnership with Lakemary and their ‘Get The Job Done’ program. Interhab is a state wide association that helps aid children and adults with developmental disabilities to leading independent and meaningful lives.  It is awarded annually to a business that gives outstanding support of this program through employment.

TVH employees truly enjoyed the giving spirit of the season and are grateful and proud to work with such a great organization as Lakemary!
