As sales trends grow in the industry and we look to expand our workforce, now is a great time to remind everyone about safety. With 70% of all industrial accidents are caused by operator error, according to the National Safety Council, talking to employees about safely using forklifts, providing operator training, performing daily equipment checks, should be at the top of the list.

Another topic not to overlook is pedestrian safety. Pedestrians must learn to listen and look for warning signs that indicate a forklift is nearby so they can take steps to avoid the machine. Forklift operators should sound the horn when approaching intersections, corners, blind spots, other forklifts, and areas with pedestrians.

To help keep both pedestrians and operators safe, TVH offers a wide variety of safety products, including the SYCLN-A-160 collision sensor. This high-tech sensor is programmed to detect motion within 25 feet in both directions using state of the art infrared motion detectors. It is also equipped with highly visible LED lights placed on both sides of the device. The lights will begin to flash when the sensor detects motion coming from both directions to warn both the forklift driver and pedestrian of an anticipated collision.

You can easily install the sensor onto metal racking using the integrated magnet mounts that are provided with the device. Also included is a tether for added support and D-cell alkaline batteries that can last up to 7 years. This portable, lightweight sensor is a great addition to your facility to not only to protect your equipment from damage, but most importantly, protect your staff.
