New parts are sourced in order to satisfy customer needs.  Each person in Materials specializes in one commodity group and is responsible for finding the right supplier for the right product, purchasing inventory, and negotiating pricing with our suppliers.  Each week about 1,400 to 1,600 purchase orders are sent to an active supplier base of more than 1,200 suppliers worldwide.  These orders translate to 1,200 to 1,400 lines received daily to our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.  In turn, 3,000 to 3,500 lines are shipped to our distribution centers each day.
