Winters can be harsh on equipment. Frigid temperatures, moisture and the constant freeze and thaw cycles can adversely affect multiple areas of your forklift including; batteries, hydraulics, electrical systems, engines and more. - Check your batteries and charging systems to make sure the battery is properly holding a charge.
- Inspect work lights, taillights and warning lights to ensure they are all operating properly.
- Clean out and flush the cooling system and add new antifreeze.
- Double check the forklift’s braking system.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
- Check tire pressure and tire tread and replace tires if needed.
- Change the oil.
- Check fuel, air, transmission and hydraulic filters.
- Test all primary operating systems such as the mast and forks.
