110 students from the Hogeschool VIVES in Kortrijk visited parts specialist TVH in Waregem on 27 February. TVH welcomed them as part of the VIVES project days. The students from the Sales Support programme and Supply Chain Management bachelor programme were thus able to test theory against corporate life.

During the VIVES project days, students discover what life is like in the workplace. In this way, VIVES aims to show students the corporate world in practice. For three days, they visit different companies and can see their training applied in practice. TVH is one of those companies.

CAREER IN LOGISTICS

Peter Geiregat, Chief People Officer at TVH, is convinced of this initiative, both for the student and the company: "The college wants to highlight the jobs in the sector and thus also boost the inflow for the logistics courses. TVH also supports the programmes by having guest lecturers teach classes, among other things. By doing so, we want to bring the workplace closer to the student."

The visit consisted of an interactive introduction to TVH, followed by a tour and info session around logistics. "But what the students were most excited about was the business game: a simulation game explaining each step within TVH's supply chain. This way, they get to know the flow within the company and it also sticks better", Peter explains.

Even after the visit, students can still contact TVH. "They get to know TVH, but also colleagues in logistics. That means they can always call or e-mail us to ask questions or speak to an expert", Peter adds. "And if, after their studies, they are looking for a job with growth opportunities in an interesting and growing, international company, they immediately know where to go."
