From June, parts specialist TVH will start working with a fixed night shift in Waregem. The company is betting on night work in response to the tight labour market, as well as for the processing of their additional inflow of goods. What is exceptional here is that the night shift gets a half-hour paid break.
As a global player in the market of parts for material handling, industrial, construction and agricultural equipment, TVH has experienced continuous growth since its foundation in 1969. But that also requires increasingly more workers. Added challenges lie in the war for talent and additional goods inflow.
Kris Thermote (VP Logistics & Supply Chain, International at TVH): "By building up additional stock, we want to guarantee our delivery times and customer service. But obviously, this extra inflow of goods has to be processed. We have noticed through various channels that there is a lot of interest in night work; with a 20% premium, it is financially interesting. So we see opportunities in starting up a night shift. The applications are already in full swing."
PAID BREAK
TVH is looking for a total of 25 people for the night shift. They will be working in the Goods In department at the TVH head office in the Waregem-Zuid business park. What tasks await them with regard to the flow of goods, will vary from night to night. Kris Thermote: "The night work will depend on the work that the day shift was able to do during the day. At the same time, we always focus on the right priorities to serve our customers optimally. In other words, a very varied job."
What is striking, is that TVH opts for fixed night work with a half-hour paid break. Through a fixed night schedule, the company wants to create enough time for family life and social activities during the weekend. Concretely, working hours are from 21:00 to 6:00 from Monday to Thursday and from 17:00 to 21:00 on Fridays. People who are hired, first start in the day shift where they will receive training. After completion of the training, they then switch to night work.
250 VACANCIES IN ALL DEPARTMENTS
TVH isn't just looking for colleagues for the logistics department; there are vacancies in all departments, including for managers and young potentials. Kris Thermote: "Apart from the night shift, TVH is still looking for people for a range of positions, from administrative support to management. People who want to help us grow."
TVH is organising job days on 14 June (16:00 to 20:00) and 18 June (9:00 to 13:00). The doors are open to everyone who wants to know more about a logistics job at TVH. You can ask questions to HR and Logistics colleagues and take a tour.
