This past spring, TVH, a family business from Waregem that is known as a one-stop shop for lift trucks, industrial vehicles and parts for those machines, built an insect hotel with adjoining flower and fruit fields. With a surface of 11.25 m², this insect hotel is one of the largest in Flanders. This way, the company wants to strengthen its commitment to biodiversity.
TVH and Green & Clean, the gardening department of WAAK, collaborated to construct a spectacular insect hotel in TVH Park, the green area of the headquarters in Waregem. The hotel offers shelter and a place to nest for solitary insects. In the surrounding area (500 m²), 28 different flower and plant varieties were sown, that quickly came into full bloom. Besides this ecological effort, TVH also laid out 120 m² of fruit fields, so that TVH employees can pick fresh berries and raspberries during their lunch walk.
Meanwhile, more than a year has passed since the official opening of TVH Park, a recreation park where employees can enjoy an active and relaxing lunch break. For example, you can play petanque, kubb, basketball, soccer and jog on the Finnish trail. Recently, bikes were also made available. This was all realised within the framework of one large-scale health project called 'TVH Nudge': a little push in the right direction.
